Support for Dads, Co-Parents and Partners

Perinatal mental health can affect any member of a family, not solely the birthing parent.
Pregnancy, birth and parenting can be challenging for the birthing parent and for all those around them.
While Light primarily support birthing people affected by perinatal mental health, we also provide support for those close to them, including dads, co-parents and partners.
Watching someone you love and care about experience the physical and emotional struggles of pregnancy and the pain and challenges that can arise with labour, can sometimes be very distressing.
Sleep deprivation can impact everyone in the home.
Trying to stay strong when your partner is physically and emotionally exhausted can be tiring.
Going back to work and not being there for your partner and new born child can sometimes lead to feelings of inadequacy, frustration and jealousy that you’re ‘missing out’ on precious time with your baby.

Birth trauma for dads, co-parents and partners
Being a birthing partner can be a rewarding experience, but for many it can also be very traumatic.
Being witness to a traumatic birth can leave you feeling anxious, fearful, panicked, overwhelmed, and effect your self-esteem.
All feelings and thoughts are valid and Light recognise that anyone can be impacted.
Support for dads, co-parents and birthing partners
Light can provide dads, co-parents and birthing partners with one-to-one peer support either face-to-face, via telephone or videocall, or text or email.
