Do you have lived experience of mental health difficulties around the time of having a baby? We are seeking two new Perinatal Peer Support Workers to join our team, one focused on support in Rotherham and one on support in Doncaster.
This role will involve providing perinatal mental health peer support through offering structured one to one peer support as well as facilitation of Light Support Groups to ensure they run smoothly either virtually or in person (Covid-19 restrictions permitting). As this role is peer support, you must have lived experience of mental health problems associated with pregnancy/childbirth, it is important that you feel well enough to be able to offer support to families who are struggling with such feelings now. This role also involves working with and supervising volunteers to help us continue to offer dedicated services to women and their families, continuing to support each family effectively.
One of these posts is focused on Rotherham & the other on Doncaster although there will also be times when you are required to work across South Yorkshire as necessary to meet the needs of the charity.
Please see the Peer Support Worker Job Description & Person Specification for further details about these roles.
To apply please complete the application form and return it to [email protected] by Friday 23rd April 2021.
Are you a driven and engaging individual who can lead us to help others?
We are recruiting a new Chief Executive and we’d love to hear from you!
As Chief Executive you will be accountable for all operational activity, including staff management, volunteer engagement, quality and compliance and financial management. The role also has significant focus on development work to help the charity grow sustainably, which will include sourcing and securing relevant funding, raising awareness of Light, managing external relationships, whilst ensuring all funding contract obligations are met. You will work closely with the Trustees to develop the long-term growth strategy, set the annual budget and monitor progress against objectives.
Please see the Chief Executive Job Description and Person Specification for further details of this role.
To apply please complete the application form and return it to [email protected] by Friday 16th April 2021
The 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon is taking place on Sunday 3 October, with a record 50,000 participants running on the streets of the capital, from Blackheath to The Mall.
On the same day, an additional 50,000 people will have the chance to take on the world’s greatest marathon on the course of their choice from 00:00:00 to 23:59:59 BST, wherever they are on the planet – building on the success of the first-ever virtual London Marathon last year.
Together, these participants will make history by creating the world’s first 100,000-person marathon – would you like to be one of them?
We are very fortunate to have been allocated three charity places in the virtual 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon. This means that runners can complete the distance here in Yorkshire – or wherever you choose – or even spread the run out across the day, using the London Marathon app to track the distance completed and time taken. If you’d like to take part in this unique challenge, while raising much-needed funds for Light Peer Support, please tell us a bit about yourself and why you’d like to run for Light by completing the form here!
We will get back to you by the end of March to confirm whether you have place, so good luck and thank you for your interest in this amazing challenge and in raising much needed funds for Light!
Come along to our Christmas extravaganza!

We are so excited to be able to giving out these beautiful Lush pamper packs to our mums at group this week. We often talk about this importance of self-care and what we can do to look after ourselves – physically, mentally and emotionally. We really want to be able to help mums to do this as much as we can and so these donations from Lush in Sheffield are so gratefully received. They contain a massage bar, bath bomb and face mask all neatly packaged in a beautiful hair knot wrap.
If you are pregnant or have young children and are finding things tough, please do get in touch with us, we are here to support you.

We want to thank Neil, his family and every single person who supported him and Light. You are all amazing and the money raised is going to make a real difference to the support we are able to offer mums and families across Sheffield and beyond – thank you!
Thank you to all the Light volunteers, mums and children that took part in the making of this film.
