Are you a good listener?
Do you have experience working with volunteers?
Have you got a lived birth trauma experience?
If so then our new Birth Trauma Peer Support Worker role might be for you.
This role will involve providing one-one peer support to women referred by the SYB Birth Trauma Maternal Mental Health Service (MMHS) through offering structured one to one peer support as well as facilitation of Light Support Groups to ensure they run smoothly either virtually or in person (Covid-19 restrictions permitting).
As this role is peer support, you must have lived experience of trauma associated with pregnancy/childbirth, it is important that you feel well enough to be able to offer support to families who are struggling with such feelings now.
The role will also involve participating in multi-disciplinary team meetings with NHS professionals from across the SYB maternity system. Recruiting volunteers who also have had a birth trauma experience to develop the capacity of Light to respond to the needs of women and their families will also be a key part of the role.
Light is an experienced provider of peer support, you will be supported in the role by the peer support co-ordinator and the Light team.
Closing date for this role is 5pm Thursday 19th August 2021.
